Nana Akufo-Addo is my president - John Dumelo

The beautiful Pearl Nyarko Mensah, a 25-year-old student at the University of Ghana was crowned the winner of Miss Malaika 2017 which happened at the National Theatre over the weekend.

Before Pearl was announced as the winner, she did a presentation just like the other contestants and she decided to give a speech on ‘Perseverance’.

Pearl, in her speech, used herself as an example, revealing that, when she got into the competition, there were soo many distractions as some people posited that, her age was not going to favor her as no one has won the pageant at age 25.

She also used our current president, Nana Akuffo Addo as a perfect example of the essence for us to be perseverant in life as Nana Addo had had an ambition of becoming a president one day and even when he lost about twice at the polls, he never gave up on his dream.

Before the presentation, she picked John Dumelo who was a judge on the night as the one to ask her a question through a ballot.

John Dumelo who wanted to refer to her earlier statement, wowed the audience when he addressed Nana Akuffo Addo as his president, something you wouldn’t expect to hear from an NDC sympathizer.

“Pearl, you gave certain examples, like the President Nana Akuffo Addo (crowd yells, John pauses and smiles, then continues)… You gave certain examples like my president, Nana Akuffo Addo who tried 3 times before he became a president, same as late Professor Mills, so in other words, they tried soo many times.”

“Do you believe that age has something to do with sucesss……..do you think, your age or qualities has something to do with you crowned Miss Malaika 2017?”–John Dumelo asked.
